About

by Lynnae on August 22, 2007

BeingFrugal.net was founded in 2007 by Lynnae McCoy, a homeschooling, Christian wife and mom of two who was dedicated to frugal living in order to get out of debt. In early 2011, Lynnae left BeingFrugal, to devote more time to life and her other blog, Freelance Homeschooling Mom.

Since 2011, this site has been maintained by several people who share similar interests to the original audience.

Jessica Ward, writer and community manager (Facebook and Twitter)

Jessica is a full-time freelance writer. She is involved in her church, missions, homeschooling and adoption support for families adopting older children and children with special needs. She’s learned to master frugal living in order to accommodate the transition to full-time freelancing.

Within that transition, her family also set a goal to live debt free. This began a three-year-journey to pay off cars, college loans, adoption loans, credit cards and eventually, the house.

She and her husband and two daughters (ages 13 and 6) live in the Seattle area. She also blogs at www.thepennywisefamily.com and www.debtkid.com. The Ward family is planning a mission to South Sudan in early 2012 to build bio-sand water filters and start several microbusinesses. The Ward family follows the Dave Ramsey “Total Money Makeover” approach to getting out of debt. You can see Jessica’s introduction post with more information here.
