Great suggestions but don't isolate it to the Holidays...

I traveled often when the kids were young. Our routine was to purchase two copies of every book. Each night I would read a chapter or two to our kids while they followed along with their books. By age 4-1/2 my son was reading Harry Potter to me. My kids are now great students and read faster with better comprehension than myself.

You cannot read enough to your kids!

We are working on weaning my son's fiance's 4-year-old off television. The cool part is, he just loves being read to! This past weekend we read a Thanksgiving Arthur book and started on the books he picked out at the library with me.

There's one book I read when I was little about two boys. The younger brother had leukemia. I think it had to do with Christmas cowboy boots. So sad, but so beautiful.

What a great idea! We are doing Christmas movies everyday. Since my 3 youngest homeschool, we arrange our schoolyear to be off the month of December and just enjoy the season together. We have a vast collection of movies & look forward to this (we also do Christmas in July & watch our movies then too). My youngest is 13, so reading storybooks is not "cool" right now, but I am saving all the books to share with any grandchildren the Lord blesses us with!

I just got my stack of Christmas stories from the library. I had to restrain myself from getting more, since we can only read so much in one week (sigh) and will have three more weeks after that! We also borrowed Christmas music from the library. My library card is one of my most prized possessions.
