Friday Linkfest: Finally Fall Edition

Fall Rain

I’m so excited!  It rained this week!  Finally the weather is cooling down and it feels like fall.

I love homeschooling on rainy days.  Snuggling with the kids on the couch, studying different cultures and reading great literature.  Yes, it’s been a good week.

News of Note

If you’ve been thinking my posting schedule has been light lately, you’re right.  Since school started, I’m still trying to find the balance between school, home, blogging, and all the technical backend stuff I need to do to keep the blog running.  I’m finding that taking a day off from posting mid-week is helping a lot.  So I probably won’t be posting on Wednesdays much anymore.

Cool Finds

If you love books as much as I do, you’re going to love this site!  BooksaleManager.com tells you where library books sales are happening. Just do a search for your area, and it will tell you where the sales are.  It’s a great way to find a book sale and support your local library!

Love to eat out, but don’t love the pricetag of taking your whole family out to eat? Kids Eat For is attempting to build the largest database of Kids Eat Free restaurants. There is even an iphone app, so you can look up restaurants on the go.  Information isn’t widely available in smaller areas, but the site looks promising!  You can help their efforts by adding kids eat free info for your area.

If you’re still looking for frugal Halloween costume ideas, Woman’s Day online has a plethora of ideas.  Head on over to check it out!

In the News

For those following my Taylor, Bean, Whitaker saga, the news gets worse for some former TBW customers. Illinois property taxes have not been paid for some customers…and the customers may not know! If you live in IL and you had a TBW mortgage, please double check to make sure your taxes have been paid.  On November 3 according to state law, county treasurers must make unpaid taxes available for sale to 3rd parties.  It’s been nearly two months since TBW declared bankruptcy.  You’d think help would be available to former customers by now.

The Carnivals

I didn’t participate in any blog carnivals this week.  Unfortunately, I forgot to link to all the carnivals I participated in the week before.  So here they are.  Better late than never, I guess!

The Carnival of Personal Finance was hosted by Studenomics and my Bank Fee Smackdown was included!

The Festival of Frugality was hosted by Improve the Quality, and they included my post, Frugal Doesn’t Mean Frumpy.

The ABC’s of Investing hosted the Carnival of Money Hacks and included my article 5 Steps to Paying off Credit Cards.

Thank you to all the hosts!

Have a great weekend!

That book sale site is great, thanks for the link. I found one about 10 min from me that is happening next week.

Just an FYI, you have the text as booksale.com instead of url (booksalemanager.com). I don’t know if that will make a difference to anyone, but if you click it, it takes you to the right site.

Nora, thanks! The link was right, but the text wasn’t. I fixed it. And I’m glad you found a sale!

Thanks for the linkback – you win the award for “last person to link back”. :)

Not really – I’m sure some people will never link back so thanks for doing so!

Well, I figure better late than never. :) I know how hard it is to put carnivals together. You deserve a link, even if it’s late!

I love your blog. I check it daily for new posts.

I do feel a bit cheated as we did not have too many summer days, it was more like an extended spring. And now instead of fall we are having winter weather. And I love fall. But I too love homeschooling on rainy days. I love when I do not allow th etv to be turned on how creative my boys become. They are actually sleeping in the cool fort they made in there room tonight.
