I can’t believe it’s been 8 years since the September 11. In ways it still seems like yesterday that I made breakfast, turned on the radio, and heard the news. My daughter was still very young at the time and napped a lot, so I spent a lot of time that day glued to the television in disbelief.
Even though 8 years have passed, please take time today to remember those who lost their lives and say a prayer for their families. I’m sure this day is not easy for them, even 8 years later.
News of Note
The Carnival of Money Hackers was hosted at ABC’s of Investing, and for the first time in a long time, I participated! I submitted my post, 5 Steps to Paying of Credit Cards.
Have you started thinking about Christmas yet? My favorite gift is photo calendars, and right now Shutterfly has them on sale for 30% off, making them $13.99 each! The sale is good until September 30, and if you order $30 or more, you can get free shipping with the code SHIP30. Happy Christmas shopping!
Green Panda posted a link on Twitter to a short video about bank overdraft fees. It caught my attention, since I’ve been dealing with overdraft fees this week. Right around the three minute mark the video shows how banks manipulate charges to maximize the overdraft fees.
Kids Eat For is a site where you can find “Kids Eat Free” meals at restaurants. It’s fairly new, so if you live in a smaller area like I do, you might not find anything. But if you’re visiting a bigger city, it might save you some money on eating out. There’s even an iPhone app!

Thanks for sharing that link. I know several people that got charged hundreds of dollars. A relative had her monthly direct deposit incorrect (HR mistake) and it caused a cascade of fees. She got some waived, but not all of them.
Due to this, she switched to a local credit union and has been extremely happy with their service.
I don’t know how 8 years has passed. I still remember it like yesterday.
Time really has flown! 9-11 will be a day many won’t forget. Thanks for the remembrance.
