This has been one busy week! Last weekend my inlaws came down for a visit, and we had a wonderful time catching up with them. But as soon as they left to go back home, we were off to a 40th birthday bash for a friend. Again, we had a great time, but it was a very busy weekend!
The next morning we started our homeschooling, which went well, but meant I didn’t get a lot of stuff done around the house. Yesterday, in between lessons, we took our dog in to the vet to get spayed, and we headed over to The Dove, so I could record my Tightwad Tuesday tips for the next month.
I can see that adding homeschooling to the mix of family activities is going to require some adjustment in expectations on my part. That’s OK though. Life is full of adjustments, right?
News of Note

Thanks for the Costco post mention! I was surprised by how much money we saved. I would’ve been happy if it would’ve paid for itself and a little bit more. Saving so much on car insurance has helped us.
Looking forward to the show!
Congrats on finishing the 1st week of homeschooling (it really does get easier). I’m going from homeschooling 1 in the past to 2 this year (my youngest is now 4).
Some things that have really helped at our house: 1) we ALWAYS do math 1st thing in the am right after breakfast. Math is where many homeschoolers fall behind. 2) We do chores after that – and you’ll find you’re going to need to ask the kids to do more than in the past! 3) Like you in addition to homeschooling I have another job (we own rental properties). Between homeschooling and that it certainly equates to a more than full time job. Last year I hired a crew to do the heavy cleaning @ our house one day every other week when we had a social activity. One of the best decisions I made – everything has gone more smoothly since! (That said, we are debt free and have a fully funded emergency fund.)
My experience has been that when you have homeschooling and another activity you just slowly fall further and further behind at being a homemaker. Don’t do what I did and turn into an overwhelmed grump :)
