But I don’t have a great post for you today. The weekend totally got away from me. On the plus side, the weather was lovely. We watched my son’s soccer game on Saturday morning and went to a birthday party Saturday afternoon.
Then with yesterday being Mother’s Day, the better part of the day was spent at church and out to lunch. We had some really yummy Mexican food!
My initial plan was to write a post yesterday evening. My daughter was having a friend spend the night (there’s no school today), but they’re pretty independent, so I knew I’d have time to write. But you know what they say about the best laid plans…
My daughter’s friend’s mom was up against a wall looking for a babysitter for her other two kids. Since I’ve been in that situation before, I offered to watch them. So instead of one extra child, I had three extra kids spend the night. Lots of fun, but not exactly conducive to writing. And wait…they just walked one street over to see if another girl can play. Yep, I’m not going to get a post written.
When we bought this house, I had hoped that we could be the place where our kids and their friends like to hang out. Looks like that’s what it has become, and I’m happy about that.
In the meanwhile, if you have any questions, tips, or ideas about garage sale shopping or selling, feel free to leave a comment! That’s what our topic is tonight on Frugal Coast2Coast, and it should be a great show! If you can, join us at 8:30 EST/5:30 PST on Blog Talk Radio. We always have a great chat going during the show, too!
Have a great day, and I’ll be back with Tightwad Tuesday tomorrow!

My tip on yard sales is that if you are going to advertise one, give a list of what types of things you have. I might not drive 10 miles to go to a yard sale that advertises clothes for sale but if I know that you have boy’s clothes sizes 6-10 and I need them, I would be a lot more motivated to drive. I see lots of yard sales advertised but few that really motivate me to want to go out of my way. The more precise you can be, the more people you will attract and they will be people looking for what you have to sell.

It sounds to me like you, your children, and their friends had a great time! Good for you for taking time to be with your family! And I’m glad your Mother’s Day was enjoyable.

We had almost the same weekend to a tee! Birthday party sleepover on Friday though, soccer game on Saturday, we usually have two but one son didn’t have games this weekend, church Sunday morning and then we also went out for Mexican Food. It sounds as if you had a wonderful Mothers Day also. Saturday night we also had our second daughters homeschool talent fair/showcase. Then late yesterday afternoon we went to see my nephew who will be leaving for Georgia then Iraq with our National Guard troop here in Roseburg.
Tip for yard sale-have a neighborhood one or at least several friends. Advertise alot, and display items as if they would be in a store. Dishware together, toys clothes, etc. I have more people comment on how organized mine are and they love how everything is displayed in groups. This comes from years of working in retail!
Have a great day!
My garage sale tip: Use original packaging when you can for small appliances or electronics, and save manuals and instruction books and include them with the items you are selling. If you do not have the original packaging, put them into sturdy bags or small cartons.

I recommend a “Make us an offer…” Yard Sale. It saves TONS of time going through everything and pricing it and keeps the stickiness of tags/masking tape off the merchandise. It also promotes haggling and I think you’re more likely to get rid of your items and still make money!

You are forgiven. Just kidding, I didn’t post yesterday because I fell asleep for the night at 8:30 PM . . .

It’s tough to get a post done sometimes, isn’t it?
Especially, when life gets in the way.
The worst is when you’re tired from work or can’t think of any ideas.
It’s ok to take a break sometimes – people will still come back, I find!
