You all probably noticed that my weekend roundup is late. I couldn’t help it. The weather has been so beautiful, I just couldn’t bring myself to sit in front of the computer! But better late than never. Here’s some reading for a lazy Sunday.
Blog of the Week
It seems like it’s been a while since I last did a blog of the week. Probably because it has been a while! So let’s get to it. This week’s blog of the week is:
Written by Heather and Ivy, Home Ec 101 covers frugality, cooking, product reviews, cleaning…basically everything you’d find in a home ec course, but much more fun! Check out this week’s recipe for Picnic Perfect Potato Salad! The picture will have you craving potato salad from the moment you set eyes upon it!
The Roundup
Since I have no big news this week, I’ll get straight to the roundup. Here are some articles that caught my eye over the last couple of weeks.
- Frugal Strategies for Families that Pay off as Your Children Grow – A Month in Israel
- Happiness Index: Nebraska Nabs Top Spot – MainStreet.com. Where does your state rank? Mine’s at the very bottom. Yikes!
- What to Do With Old Cell Phones – Christian PF. Who knew?
- Live 30 Days on a Budget. I dare you! – Gather Little by Little
- I Have No Need or Desire to be Wealthy – My Two Dollars. I totally agree.
Finally, if you could take a moment to pop over to PepsiCo’s What’s Your Pitch contest and listen to fellow Elevenmom Colleen Padilla’s pitch, I’m sure she’d appreciate it. She has a great idea for educating the public on costs involved with investing, and she was chosen as one of the finalists for the contest. Well done, Colleen!
Have a blessed Sunday, and I’ll be back with a new post tomorrow, regarding an issue I’m struggling with. But I’m going to make you wait until tomorrow to find out what it is…. (Don’t worry…it’s nothing dire, but it is important). See ya then!

Thank you once more for sharing the HomeEc101 link. It’s a keeper. Texas ranks 13th on the Happiness scale, which could be better. I’m happy to say that I am doing my part to reduce my non-mortgage debt!
Angelsong’s last blog post..Finances are looking up
Thanks for the link!
Hard to believe our state is at the bottom of the list when most folks I know here in moo-town are just tickled pink with happiness.
I wonder if it is because of the large numbers living in the cities – I’d like to see the happiness index divide between the rural and city…. then maybe there’d be a bigger difference.
I for one am happy! No debt, let alone mortgage debt. No foreclosure – obviously with no debt… and no unemployment for me…. However, if I look at a relative who lives in the big city…. he’s had all 3…. therein lies the difference!
