The panel at the CPG Summit in Las Vegas went well! Basically the panel consisted of 4 bloggers. Besides myself, the bloggers were Christine of From Dates to Diapers, Alma fromMarketing Mommy, and Liz from Mom101. Our purpose was to tell retailers and manufacturers of packaged goods what goes into our buying decisions.
You’ll be thrilled to know that we talked about less packaging and recycled packaging. We also talked about clear labeling (as in, we want to know exactly what’s in the product). I know that with big corporations the wheels of change turn very slowly, but the audience seemed very interested and receptive to what we had to say. We also encouraged the companies to establish a presense on Twitter, so they could start building proactive relationships with their consumers. Hopefully we’ll start seeing some changes.
Since I’m just back from Las Vegas, I don’t have a “real post” written today. So instead of reading here, I encourage you all to check out The Personal Finance Hour on Blog Talk Radio. It’s a new radio show by JD of Get Rich Slowly and Jim of Bargaineering. Their inaugural show aired last Monday at 6:00 EST/3:00 PST. I listened, and they did a great job (you can listen to the archived show online). JD and Jim both told their personal stories of how they ended up where they are now. So if you’ve ever wanted to get an inside look into their lives (or hear what they sound like!), give the show a listen.
Look for them every Monday at 6pm/3pm (and then make sure to stick around for Frugal Coast2Coast at 8:30 EST/5:30 PST).
And one final bit of news. I’m moving blog hosts very soon (possibly starting today), so my site doesn’t crash for three days again, like it did a couple of weeks ago. You shouldn’t notice anything, but when I point the domain name to my new host, we may lose a few comments. It’s unavoidable, but hopefully it will be kept to a minimum.
Thanks for your patience, and I promise to be back to posting “real posts” again next week!

I totally agree with the clear labeling point! So many products these days list unpronounceable names for the ingredients. My rule of thumb is, “If I can’t pronounce it, I probably can’t digest it, so I should not eat it.”
Thanks,
