In my frugal fashion video yesterday I mentioned that I was headed to South by Southwest Interactive in Austin Texas next week. Walmart and their various suppliers are sponsoring the trip, which I am very thankful for, because without sponsorship, I wouldn’t be able to go.
The company sponsoring me is Tyson Foods, and I’m very excited about working with them. I was going to wait to include posting about SXSW in my roundup tomorrow, but Tyson has a time sensitive project going on right now that I think is very cool!
The Pledge to End Hunger
Right now you can help end hunger in Austin. Tyson foods is going to donate 35 lbs. of food (equivalent to 140 servings) to the Capital Area Food Bank of Austin for every pledge they receive.
I know you’re thinking that it’s a request for money, and if you have it to give, that’s great! But if you’re hard hit by economic times, you can still pledge. You can pledge to volunteer. Or you can pledge to share information about the Pledge to End Hunger on Twitter, Facebook, or your blog. There are many ways to pledge, so I challenge you all to get involved.
As of this morning, Tyson was 3/4 of the way to their goal of 1000 pledges! If you want to help meet the goal, visit the Pledge to End Hunger site!

What a neat idea! I love it when private companies help the needy. Thanks for posting about it.

Is SXSW next week already? Darn…I better get on it! I live in Austin.
Thank you for sharing this. I am glad to participate via Twitter.
Thank you for helping us spread the word!
Today is a big day – we’re making our big push to reach 3,000 pledges. This will help us fill two more trucks. We can’t decide where to send them until they’re loaded.
Can you help us by:
- signing The Pledge at http://tr.im/blcmt
- use Facebook, Twitter, and email to ask others to join you
Thanks again. Let’s fill the trucks today!
