If you missed the first two installments of “Days of DirecTV”, you can catch up here and here. When we last left off, I was happy, because DirecTV had called and adjusted my bill, but I wasn’t sure what to think of Qwest, because I hadn’t heard a peep out of them.
Well, yesterday morning I got a call from Charles at Qwest (and I don’t think he was a lowly rep from the call center, because he identified himself by his first AND last name). He was calling in response to my email and said Qwest had been working with DirecTV on my issue Wednesday. He wanted to make sure everything had been resolved. So thank you, Qwest. I appreciate you taking care of this for me.
I have so much more to say, but a roundup isn’t really the place for it. If you would all like to know my feelings about the future of big corporations and outsourced call centers, I’d be glad to write a post on that next week. If you’re tired of this story, just let me know, and I will keep my thoughts to myself.
Regardless, I’m glad I will be able to enjoy the weekend without an unresolved billing dispute hanging over my head.
Blog of the Week
Interestingly enough, the blog of the week is written by my friend whose issue with DirecTV has NOT been resolved. Unfortunately, his satellite service wasn’t bundled with Qwest, and my hunch is that Qwest got the ball rolling on my fix. I’ve been linking to him all week, and here he is again. The blog of the week is:
I love to read My Two Dollars, because the posts are thought provoking and straightforward. I don’t often have time to comment on blogs as much as I’d like, but when I do have a chance to comment, I find myself sharing my opinions at My Two Dollars. David has a knack for making me want to jump in with my opinion.
News of Note
Between being sick and fighting with customer service all week, I can’t say there’s anything new with me or Being Frugal. However, I have a few things from around the web to tell you about.
Jenn & I are interviewing J.D. Roth of Get Rich Slowly on Frugal Coast2Coast Monday night. I’m really excited, because Get Rich Slowly was one of the first personal finance blogs I read, and J.D. has been a big inspiration to me!
Debt Goal is holding a contest on their Facebook page. The prize? $250 to help you pay down your debt! Head over to Debt Goal’s Facebook page to see what you have to do to win. I’ve peeked, and it’s not that hard!
Zlert is a new service where you can track Amazon price drops for items you’d like to buy. Just search for the item you want, then enter the maximum price you’d like to pay. Zlert will notify you when the item drops below that price! I haven’t tried it yet, but it’s very promising!

I’m glad Qwest contacted you to see what is going on.It shows some concern for their customers.
I’m looking forward to the next Frugal Coast2Cost show.I must admit I’m curious when other bloggers call in to see what they sound like. I compare it to what I think they sound like when I read. I hope the show goes well!
