I know it’s Sunday, and I don’t usually do Sunday posts. But I thought if I regularly posted goal updates on the first of the month, it would help keep me accountable in meeting those goals. So here we go. A quick rundown of my goals and my progress.
Blogging Goals
~Continue to Post Authentically – Always in progress, but doing well.
~Hit 10,000 Subscribers – Well, now that my feed is back to normal, it’s easier to monitor. I’m right around 4500 right now. If you’d like to help raise the number, you can subscribe by RSS or email.
~Provide a hub of resources and encouragement for people looking to cut back their spending – In progress. As a start, I’ve started a deals blog and forums. If you have any other ideas, feel free to contact me. I’m always open to new ideas.
~Provide information on deals, particularly geared toward those in the PNW – I’m off to a good start. If you don’t want to miss the deals, subscribe to Being Frugal Deals.
~Post more consistently at Frugal Mom Reviews – I’m not off to the best start, but there’s been a little improvement. I’ll keep working on it.
Financial Goals
~Pay myself second, right after my tithe – Doing great!
~Revamp the budget, to account for our mortgage and higher utility bills – I’m still somewhere between a real budget and just tracking our spending. But I’m working on building up my buffer again in YNAB, so I can live on this month’s income next month. Love that buffer!
~Pay off the student loans – I’ve done nothing about this so far.
~Decrease the eating out budget – Stellar progress!
Personal Goals
~Eat healthier; no fast food for a year – We’ve made it a month! Our eating habits could still stand to improve, but I’m celebrating the fact that we’ve gone a month without fast food. And it wasn’t even that hard!
~Exercise regularly – I’m improving. I was sidelined by a week of headaches. But I’ve been pretty good about playing on the Wii Fit and walking in the mornings.
~Organize the house – I haven’t touched this goal yet.
~Set a daily routine – I’m getting better. So far I get up, spend some time with God, get dressed, make my bed, get the kids up and fed, wipe down the kitchen and bathrooms, and head out for a walk, after the kids get on the bus. I guess that’s pretty good. Baby steps, right?
Overall, I’m pretty happy with my progress. So far I’ve been pretty focused this year, despite the fact that I feel like I could use a 48 hour a day.
Thanks to my Referrers
One of the things I want to do more consistently this year is thank the people who send traffic to Being Frugal.net. Thanks to everyone who sends people my way. I’d love to list everyone, but there isn’t enough space. So the top 10 will have to do.
- Deal Seeking Mom
- Simple Mom
- The Simple Dollar
- I’ve Paid for This Twice Already
- Frugal Dad
- Get Rich Slowly
- Moolanomy
- My Two Dollars
- The Centsible Sawyer
- Gather Little by Little
Have a wonderful Superbowl Sunday! We’re off to a Superbowl party, right after church!

This is a great post. Your goals are good and attainable as well. Hang in there.
jan’s last blog post..Sometimes I’m just slow.
Lynnae,
Writing down specific goals is half the battle. There are many people who accomplish nothing, because they can’t commit to anything . . .
Good luck with your goals!
I’m fairly new to your blog, so I didn’t realize that you were doing a monthly run down of your goals, but what a wonderful idea! January hasn’t been the best for me in terms of my new year goals, so I have to sit down and rethink what I’m doing in February in order to be successful. I normally look at my goals when I accomplish one, so I think readdressing them more often is a great idea – one I should have done without a prompt, but hey, I let life interfere with that and it’s something I’m working on! ;)
But, congratulations on the progress you’re making! I’m especially interested to see how the ‘no fast food for a year’ turns out! Good luck to you and I can’t wait to see how it goes for you this month.

Hey :) Just wanted to chime in on your “number of readers” goal. I’m not on email or RSS, but I do have you bookmarked and check in daily.
Thanks for your honest, entertaining, real-life sharing!
