The opportunities that this blog has presented me continue to astound me. I have an exciting project launching in January! It’s definitely a step outside my comfort zone, but I’m willing to try almost anything once, and this sounds like a lot of fun.
Beginning in January, Jenn from Frugal Upstate and I will be partnering to host a radio show on Blog Talk Radio! We’re tentatively scheduled on Monday evenings at 8:30 EST/5:30 PST.
Our vision is to chat about frugal topics, pick the brains of guests on our show, and answer questions from listeners who call in. You all can either listen live, or the archive will be posted shortly after the show for download or listening online. (both options are free).
Listening online is absolutely free, and you can even call in and listen from your cell phone! That’s also free on the Blog Talk Radio end, but cell phone charges will be incurred, according to your plan. In addition, there will be a chat room available during the show for people to bounce around frugal ideas.
This is where I need your help. If you were to listen to a radio show about frugality, what topics would you like to hear about? What time slot would be best? Are there any guests you’d like to hear from?
I’m just so excited about another opportunity to spread the word about the benefits of a frugal lifestyle! So don’t be shy! If you have an idea, let me know, and we’ll see what we can do with it!

How exciting! Topics I would like to hear about: frugal green living, budgeting and tracking tools and more!
When will you start?
That sounds awesome! Congrats
i think i would be cool to hear success stories of people who were like in lots of debt then started living frugally and how they got out of debt and stuff
Congrats! You can write up possible things to talk about ahead of time, in case you get nervous, and your mind goes blank at the wrong time. Not that that will happen to you, but it has to me. And on the radio it will be all voice, no one will see your body language, so you will have to do a lot more in describing of things. I haven’t heard a lot of frugal talk on the radio, so this will be great. Good luck!
Success stories and those in progress are great suggestions!
Topics of reduce, reuse. Financial. Bartering. Gardening, canning, cooking and recipe strategies (alot of what you already have on your blog!)
Resources for rebates, couponing, etc. Entertaining. Home cleaning recipes (or authors of books, blogs with frugal recipes) Don’t forget a “call-in” section for questions, tips, ideas and suggestions for guests. The world out there has some great ideas.
This is sooo great. Congratulations. You’ll be great!
I would like to hear about investing. Like many, I have lost a lot of money that I had in my 401K. With stocks so low, I wonder if there are any good “penny stocks” that have potential. I also like hearing about how people got out of debt. I would like to pay off my mortgage early. I am working on other debts first and it is my goal to be totally debt free.
Very cool, Lynnae! Congrats. :)
Wow…Congrats. Sounds like a blast!
Congratulations! As someone who has been on interviews with you, I can assure you that you will sound great. If you ever need a guest… :)
Congratulations to you both! Frugality vs. environmental responsibility and frugality vs. charity are two topics I am always pondering.
Congratulations and best of luck in this new endeavor.
Super cool, Lynnae. Can’t wait to hear it all in action. You are taking over!
Topics: what frugal means, what’s cheap vs frugal, examples of frugal (interviews), booking frugal vacations, frugal cooking/cleaning, frugal shopping, frugal fashion, etc….
I’d love to listen in on a frugal radio show! Great idea and I’m excited.
Hurrah! What fun this will be! I would love to hear about ways to “make your own” items frugally.
Contrats! What an opprotunity for you. Have fun with it.
That’s so great Lynnae! Congrats!
I think this will be a big success for you.
Congrats!
For January – things that go with doing your taxes… like setting up your financial asset sheet while you have all the records available and posting your goals. Free seed catalogs and the library for dreaming about your edible landscaping and frugal gardening tips.
How doing for yourself (scratch cooking, sewing, gardening, painting, etc) can keep you from spending money. How self-education into do it yourself skills can help.
How frugality is a matter of attitude… how you have to be able to change your own mind and decide to do what is best for you and yours without worrying about what the rest of the world thinks about what you are doing.
Going back to basics. Where to find the best buys online. Links to other sites. Freebies.
How frugality and green can work together.
Energy/electric savings this time of year.
Enjoy! And great luck with it!
Wow–in no time traditional media may be dead. This is pretty cool! Good for you!
congrats.really neat idea. i would like to hear about saving money. while on a extreamly limited social security disability check with a large ammount of debt & no retirement funds.so anything would be helpful!
Congrats, Lynnae! I think that the most important thing you can talk about is the how tos. There is lots of promotion about saving money and becoming debt free. People want to do it but most don’t know where to start. How to garden, how to make your own stuff, how to save for your emergency fund, how to invest, etc. They were the articles that helped me the most… well mixed with personal stories because it’s so important to know you aren’t alone.
I’d like to find frugal ways to provide entertainment to our family
Congrats!
Wow, there are so many topics possible! In addition to what’s in other comments, it would be great for you to work with the reality that people with a need to be frugal come in different situations: single folks, couples with kids, single parents with young kids, college students, newly working young adults, empty nesters, seniors whose income has dropped. Everyone may have a need to be frugal but have a very different idea of what that means, so “layers” of frugality could be helpful, too (eg, those who need to drop HBO from their cable vs. those who need to drop cable altogether)
Looking forward to this!
It’s awesome to be able to hear you on Blog Talk Radio. I already listen to the Flylady on Blog Talk Radio. I look forward to hearing your show. Some topics I would like are saving money using coupons at grocery stores and pharmacies, expecially CVC and their extra care bucks program. Thanks for all you do and lets all be frugal in 2009.
