Being Frugal Has a New Look!

by Lynnae on December 13, 2008 · 19 comments

Happy Saturday, everyone!  If you’re on the site, you probably noticed that Being Frugal has a new and updated look!  I’m still tweaking a few minor details, but the site should be functional for everyone.  If you’re having any problems, though, don’t hesitate to contact me.

As far as details you should know…the top post is a featured post, and I’ll rotate it out once a week or so.  Below the featured post is my regular blog posts, as usual.  You can find my latest videos on the sidebar.  And I’ll be adding more exciting things as I have time.

Post of the Week

It’s been a really busy and hectic week this week, and I haven’t had a lot of time for blog reading.  However, earlier this week Squawkfox told me about a situation that blew me away.   And today she wrote about it.  So the post of the week is:

Do NOT Shred it and Forget it!

You’re really not going to believe this one.  Sometimes the life of a blogger is interesting, to say the least.

News You Should Know

Lots of stuff going on this week.

There’s still 2 days to enter the contest for the $500 Walmart gift card, sponsored by Nickelodeon! Make sure you enter, because I’ll be closing the contest on Monday.

Go congratulate Katja of Skimbaco Lifestyle!  She sent Tome Cruise some shoes from her shop, and yesterday Suri Cruise’s ladybug shoes were mentioned on Oprah!

The M-Network wrapped up our 12 Days of Christmas – Personal Finance Style this week. There’s a lot of good advice wrapped up in those 12 posts, so make sure you check them out!

Are you a frugal/budget conscious family?  Do you have a child between the ages of 6 and 17?  Then Wife Swap is looking for you! Here are the guidelines:

Wife Swap airs on Disney owned ABC television on Fridays at 8 pm- the family
hour! There is another show that copies ours. We focus on having fun, learning
and teaching. They focus on conflict. I just want to make sure our show doesn’t
get confused with theirs!
Requirements: Each family must consist of two parents, have at least one child
between 6 and 17, and should reside in the continental U.S.  (There may be
other children living in the home who are older or younger than the required
age…as long as one child is in the required age range.)

If this is something you’re interested in, contact me, and I’ll get you in touch with the casting producer of the show.

I think that’s about it for the week!  I’m off to enjoy the dusting of snow we got last night, before it’s all gone!

Nice new look. Now a question – when did “Retail Therapy” come into being? This is a serious question – I really don’t know. Also, when did vacation destinations start heavily promoting the “shopping experience”. At the same time as retail therapy, after or was it a cross-merchandising promotion thought up by some devious advertising agency?

Our snow dusting did not arrive here til Saturday night… powder all over the lawn and road and on the car – so that means it’s freezing out! BRRRRR!!! Thank goodness for the woodstove!
