A Post in Pictures

Personal Stories

I really thought I was going to write more this week, but as the house wraps up, I’ve been super busy…shopping.  Not very frugal, but it seems every day the guy that’s working on the house or I come up with one more little thing we need.  So while I’ve been running errands all over Southern Oregon, I haven’t been writing.

I am happy to report, though, that things are coming together.  We’ve set a definite move date:  Friday, September 26.  I figure I’ll be madly unpacking that weekend (because that’s just the kind of person I am).  I’ll probably run a guest post on Monday, and then it will be back to business as usual here.  Thank goodness!

So instead of writing a post today, I thought I’d show some pictures of the progress we’ve made on the house.  Excuse the formatting.  Something about my blog theme doesn’t like pictures being aligned anywhere but left.

The before pictures were taken a couple of days after we took possession of the house.  Unfortunately the carpet had already been ripped out, but imagine a very old maroon carpet. :)

The after pictures were all taken two days ago.  The floor is going in quickly and should be completed by this weekend.  After that the trim needs to go up, and then the kids’ bathroom and the laundry room need to be tackled.  If necessary, those can be done after we move though.  We’re almost there!

    congrats on your progress!!

Why did you go with white walls? Just out of curiosity….

  3. Lynnae Says:

The walls actually look lighter in the pictures than they are. The official wall color throughout most of the house is “Toasted Cashew”. It’s kind of a taupe-y color. I wanted something neutral and light to make the rooms look bigger. The doors & trim will be a pure white, and it’s a nice contrast when you see it in person.

Liz’s room is a pale yellow, which matches her bedding set.

And Sam’s room is white. He has a NASCAR themed room, and eventually, I’ll probably add checkered flags or something to make it fun.

Congrats on getting an official move date nailed down! I can imagine you all are ready for home to call home! Thanks for sharing the pictures and for updating us!

Just out of curiosity, and I hope you don’t mind me asking, but all of these extra purchases that you are having to make, did you have cash set aside just in case they came up (like they did)?

  5. Lynnae Says:

I don’t mind you asking. My dad is actually financing most of the renovations, so that is a HUGE blessing for us. But we also had a certain amount of cash set aside, too, and that’s also helped.

And no, I haven’t used my credit cards. :) Things will definitely be tight for the next couple of months, though. There are always extra things that come up when you move, it seems.

SOOOOO excited for you! Looks much like my last home! Thanks for sharing the pixs! Kitchen next, please :)

I’m with you on all those little expenses that come up… trim, or a lock, screws, or hinges, wood strips, or specialized tool, more painter’s tape and another paintbrush, another outlet cover, or a wire…etc, etc, etc… I’m a year and a half into this remolding and it still amazes me that I have to run to the store for yet something else at least once a week…all little things, but essentials for me to get the certificate of occupancy :) There’s just no way you can know ahead of time that you will need that gidget or whatever until you get to that part!

Good luck with the move in!

PS - you’re gonna luv that flooring!!! It’s Grandkid proof!

There is a LOT of difference between the “before” and “after”. The home looks like it will be very comfortable for you and your family. It’s only a few days until you will be settling in. Good job!

  8. Elisa Says:

Looking good, and how great to have a den!

  9. Jemelene Says:

Can’t wait to see it in person some day! :) Looks cozy!

  10. Shymom Says:

Wow! What a difference paint and flooring make. Congratulations!!

  11. Emily Says:

You got rid of all the color! :(

Great progress though, love the floors! Congrats on having a move in date!
