It’s Ours!

Our house, our yard, our tree, and our kids!

Yesterday afternoon when I left a comment, saying I didn’t know if I’d be able to get a post up today, Marci, another commenter suggested that all I needed to post is “It’s Ours!” (referring to our new home, of course).

I emailed her and told her I’d love to post that, but it wouldn’t be true until Monday morning when the deed recorded.  Well, I just got the surprise of my life a few minutes ago, when the title company called and said they recorded this afternoon. I’m now the proud owner of my own home, and in more debt than I’ve ever been in my life!  It feels good!  I’ll be getting right to work on that debt!

Things will be moving quickly over the next couple of weeks, as we get repairs on the house scheduled and we pack up our rental.  There’s a lot to get done in a short amount of time!

Thanks for all your good thoughts!  It feels good to be a home owner!  We should be getting our keys by Tuesday morning at the latest.  The realtor is working on those details right now.

Hurrah! I am so happy for you and your family! It has truly been an adventure reading this series of posts…and it brings back vivid memories of what it was like for us last summer when we went through the process of buying our home. The experience of having the keys put into my hand was amazing; it made me cry. It sounds so simple a process on paper, but parts of it really are about “hurry up and wait”, and the waiting and wondering are nerve-wracking…not to mention all of the bajillion documents that have to be filled out, delivered and filed. It is an exercise in tenacity. I wish the best for you in your new home! Having your very own office (and appliances, etc.) is wonderful.

Congratulations! I hope that aside from the hard work that it is to pack up and move, you enjoy the experience of being a new homeowner.

Congratulations on your new house. That’s really exciting! I know you have a lot of work to do on it, but just put that brother of mine to work! Its nice that you live close to him and that he has too much time on his hands :) Have fun decorating (I’m not very good in that field). Enjoy your new home!

HI Lynnae,

Congradulations!! I got my keys on Thursday and I was really excited to know that someone else in this big old world was going through the same excitement (and at times anguish) in bying their first home! Proud of you and once again thanks for the frugal tips.

It is so exciting!

Hey my heartiest congratulations for your new home. Don’t worry about the debt, I’m sure you will deal with it with a new ferocity, and will be able to make it tiny very soon. But for now, just relax and enjoy your new ‘own’ home. I’m not a homeowner yet but I’m sure it feels really good to be one.

A home? You mean a MOBILE home? Nice try, but bad investment. I don’t even think it “counts” as a home – it’s a trailer?
