This is where I’ll be spending the weekend!
Before I get to the post, I need to give a shout out to my wonderful husband, Jim. It’s his birthday today. Happy Birthday, honey!
We’re taking off this afternoon for the Oregon coast to do some camping and get away from the busyness of buying a house, Walmart adventures, and life in general. We’ll be without internet, so if something wacky happens here at Being Frugal, I’ll have to fix it when I get back!
Speaking of buying a house, it looks like the process might be coming to an end for us. I had no idea buying a home would be this stressful. It’s hard not knowing what the underwriter is going to say about your loan application!
But the mortgage broker is expecting the closing documents to come in today. The plan is to sign on Monday, send the docs for review on Tuesday, and record the deed on Wednesday. Then the owners have until Saturday afternoon to move out. Barring any delays, we should have the keys to our new home by Sunday afternoon. Thank goodness! Then the renovating craziness begins.
And it looks like we’ll be homeless for about a week in September…the same week school starts. That could get interesting too. I don’t think we’ll be able to get the repairs completely done by September first. Fortunately my dad, who lives really close to our new house, is going out of town for a month, so we can stay at his house.
So yes, we need this weekend.
Being Frugal News
I don’t have much to report this week. I am planning on making a camping-related video over the next few days. Don’t worry. I’m not really working. Ok, I am, but it’s fun work. And I’ll shoot most of it at home before we leave. Hopefully I can get that edited and posted by next Wednesday or Thursday.

Camping – you just made me remember that I want to go camping again! Have a great weekend!
Thanks for the link Lynnae – have a great camping trip!
Have an awesome camping trip Lynnae! Thank you so much for the eBook mention!
Bring your rain gear…sorry :(
Supposed to get cooler this weekend and some rain possible on Sat late afternoon… But walking the beach is good in the rain also :)
Enjoy this reprieve, and your camping weekend :)
And if you’re in Tillamook on Friday night, or Saturday, enjoy our County Fair :) and see my blue, red, and white ribbons for my veggies :)
Happy moving in! It’s YOURS!
@Marci – not quite ours…yet. Next week.
And we’re going to be on the south coast, near Brookings. I’ve heard down here it’s supposed to be overcast, but not raining. I have my doubts though, as even in Medford it’s looking pretty dark this morning.
I do need to make it back up your way sometime, though. We vacationed in Seaside several years ago and loved it!
Weather is usually better ‘down south’… Hope it works out for you.
If you get one bathroom all done, you might consider just camping out in the living room at the new house for that week. Paperplates and easy meals make it not too bad. And good luck with that refrigerator decision :(
I started camping out in my remodel the minute the toilet would flush and the shower run. It meant that the bathroom sink water was running into a bucket that had to be dumped down the toilet, and that I did not have a kitchen from last May til Thanksgiving, but it was where I wanted to be – and much easier to keep working on the place while I was actually in it. Of course, there were no kids living in the construction sight with me, so that is a consideration for you :) I got by with the microwave, crockpot, and electric frypan – amazing what you can do with just those :) Good luck!
Hi Lynnae! Have fun camping! I posted about you on my blog and hooked a link to your credit card post. Are you in Oregon or Washington?
A birthday and camping. Sounds like a great weekend! :)
Thanks for the mention!
Have a great holiday. And my best wishes to Jim on his birthday.
Best regards
Thanks so much for the mention! Good luck with the camping trip.
Mike
