I could really use a 48 hour day!

Happy Friday!  Boy am I glad to see the weekend!  The last few weeks have been busy, and the next month promises to be even busier!

I know you’re all wondering about what’s going on with the house, so I’ll give you a little update.  Our loan is currently in underwriting.  It was supposed to be approved on Monday, but due to technical difficulties between the lender and the mortgage broker, the underwriter didn’t even look at the loan until Wednesday.

We had to submit a few more documents, but nothing that raised any flags.  And the sellers have to put some tie-downs on the foundation, but they already knew they’d have to do that.  Everything is still looking good, and we should be able to close on time (August 12), or even a little sooner.

My husband called our landlord last night to give our 30 days notice.  The landlord was expecting the call, as the lender had called him to see if we paid our rent on time (we have).  And our landlord is being really flexible as to our move out date.  We’re hoping to be out by Sept. 1, but that might be a little ambitious, with all the work we need to do to the house before we move.

Being Frugal News

Besides having a lot going on with the house, I have a lot going on with the blog.  It seems like good things come in waves!

I was very pleased to see the response to my video post yesterday.  Though it’s not going to be a regular feature quite yet, I do have big video plans.  I’m involved in an upcoming project that involves other great frugal mom bloggers, a big corporation, video posts, and a whole lot of fun!

I won’t give you any more details than that, because I love surprises.  All I can say is the launch is set to happen in September, and I’m very excited about it!

Also, I’m already planning to take a week or so off when we move.  I still don’t know exactly when that is, but I’m already lining up a special series of guest posts.  I’m excited about the series, and I think you’re going to love it!  If it goes over well, I may use the idea for a regular feature.  But again, I’m not going to give too many details, because I love surprises.  Look for that toward the end of August, or maybe the beginning of September.

Finally, on a more technical note, I’m changing web hosts this weekend.  You don’t have to do anything, but realize that it takes 72 hours for a domain name to propogate once I point it at the new server, so you might not get pointed to the new domain until Monday or Tuesday.  Hopefully things won’t get too wonky over the weekend, and posting will continue as normal on Monday.  If you notice any site problems, rest assured I’ll be working on them (or begging people who know what they’re doing to help me out).

Frugal Linkfest – Links I’ve enjoyed, and I know you will too!

Alyssa at Keeping the Kingdom First is hosting a show and tell contest!  She wants to know all about how you organize your coupons.  Visit this post to find out how to enter and to check out all the great coupon organization tips from the entrants!

Single Guy Money LOVES his new iPhone!  I realize that’s not really frugal, but I’m still jealous (and happy for him, too).  And he didn’t even go into debt to buy it!  WTG Single Guy!

Amy at Mom Advice posted a great video showing you how to save money using your dishwasher.  I took notes, as I’m finally GOING TO HAVE A DISHWASHER in about a month!!!!  (I’m not excited or anything).

The Dough Roller posted a very informative article on credit card fees.  I’m not fond of credit cards at all, but if you’re going to get one, you need to read this first!

Jenn at Frugal Upstate gives a tutorial (complete with pictures) on how to make a lego birthday cake for a lego themed birthday party!  I wish I could talk my son into a lego themed party, but he’s insisting on NASCAR again.

Looking to lose weight?  Pete at Bible Money Matters posted a list of free links to help you live a healthier lifestyle.  I need to check them out in more detail myself!

Classy Mommy is giving away a Temporal Artery Thermometer.  I sure wish I would have had one of these when my kids were much younger!

Kacie at Sense to Save warns her readers not to get so caught up in winning an eBay auction that they pay too much.  I’ve done that before.  Ooops.  But I didn’t pay too much this week when I found a shower curtain that matches our comforter for our MASTER BATHROOM!!!!  (Again, I’m not excited or anything).

The Domestic Diva shows you how to watermark your photos using Gimp.  I’ve heard Gimp is almost as good as Photoshop (plus it’s free), but I’m not adept at using it yet.  Someday I will learn.

Simple Mom shows you how to make an inspiration board.  I think it’s a fabulous idea, and I’m going to make one for my NEW HOME OFFICE, once I catch my breath after moving.

I think I’ll quit now, before I drive you all crazy with my new house elation.  Hopefully the host change will go smoothly, and I’ll see you all back here Monday!  Enjoy your weekend!

HOORAY!!!! SO happy for your happiness! :)

About that DISHWASHER… (one should always use caps for such a great machine) - my favorite bonus use of it for canning time… sterilizing the jars and keeping them warm while I’m canning :)
Ok - so it’s not frugal - but it sure is handy.

Good luck with all the new projects - I am eagerly awaiting all the new projects!

I hope everything works out well for you re: the house.

I’m glad you liked the lego cake-it did come out cute. A Nascar cake would be easy-just make an 8X11 sheet cake, then make a track on top-maybe out of crushed oreos (it’s hard to make icing black instead of gray) then buy a few new matchbox cars (or dig some out of the toybox) and place them on the track. Maybe print out some little checkered flags and glue them onto toothpicks for decorations. .

Good Luck with the house Lynnae. It’s a scary time but also a happy time. The happy time comes once you’ve signed all of your loan documents and they give you the keys to your new home.

Oh yeah, thanks for the link. :)
