I agree with you that homeschooling has something to do with temperament. Sometimes it's not the right decision (just like some people may be good teachers but less good as parents).

I've written on piece about frugal textbook strategies for homeschoolers and I'd be happy to let you repost it as a guest article, just let me know. :)

P.S. Yay!

My mom used to have chickens when she lived in the country and my hubby's aunt has them now. They don't seem to be too much work, if you like chickens and the eggs are far superior to store-bought.

Hooray! I know you are on cloud nine! or higher! Because you are renting, you won't experience the major panic of 'having to move'(like having sold a house would be) out so fast, and can get your painting etc done. I realize tho that you don't want to pay extra rent, but you do have that option if needed.

Stock up on marking pens, different colors, for the packing boxes, and you'll do great! Just don't put extra pressure on yourself... you have the rest of your life to settle in now! Enjoy the move and make it as fun as possible!

If, after the move the boxes start to get to you, just make a deal with yourself...I will unpack one box every day, or two boxes.... don't think you have to tackle every single box the moment you get there! That's the rule that saved my sanity on several moves... and within the month, all were done, because taking the pressure off helped a lot! :)

Also - cook up some extra meals now to freeze. They will sure come in handy on some of those heavy painting or moving days when you are tempted to eat out or order pizza in :) And it's ok to splurge on paper plates while moving - my rule :)

We just got some ducks for our backyard. They produce more eggs (around 300 per year per duck) and need less care. The duck eggs are richer than chicken eggs and give more lift to baked goods. You can build a duck tractor out of pvc and chicken wire for the day time and a house (essentially a cube with nest boxes, since they don't need roosts)for the night time.

You should read Annie Walker's blog, The In-Debt Net. She raises chickens, and has just had a batch of eggs hatch!

Oh, I'm excited for you! You WILL get through this; it's a positive time even if it's a very busy time.

Have *relaxing* and enjoyable vacation! :)
