This is what Being Frugal looked like a year ago on Blogger. We’ve come a long way, baby!
That’s right! Being Frugal is one year old today! (It was actually yesterday. I can’t believe I missed my own bloggiversary!) It’s hard to believe that just one year ago, I started a personal journal to hold myself accountable to getting out of debt. I never imagined that anyone would read it. And I really never imagined I’d have around 2500 subscribers in a year!
But here we are, one year later. My husband has been through several jobs, finally landing in one he loves. My love for writing and blogging has grown immensely over the last year. We’re not even close to meeting our goal of getting out of debt by June 18, but that’s OK. This last year has been a huge success, both for me personally and for the blog.
The Giveaway
To thank all you readers, I’m holding a giveaway for a $50 Amazon giftcard! To enter the contest, all you have to do is leave a comment on this post, telling me what you’d like to see from Being Frugal in the next year. More book reviews? More personal stories? A resource page? Message board? Anything you’d like to see less of? Tell me what’s on your mind. I can’t make any promises, but I will take your suggestions seriously when setting goals for the next year!
When you leave your comment, make sure you enter a valid email address in the comment form, as I will be emailing the gift card code to the winner, and I don’t want the winner to miss out. I’ll close comments Friday, June 6 at noon PST and announce the winner with next Saturday’s roundup!

Thanks for the site. I visit frequently. Hmmm… what I would like to see on beingfrugal? More about your attempts at Urban Homesteading and how to do it without be at the fringe of society. Sometimes what I find on the web are the people who are “completely” there and I’m not so I don’t know what to do… You’re thinking about having a clothesline and growing food. That’s kind of where I’m at. I’d like to know more about that journey and what’s frugal… Thanks for the writing! God Bless!
Congrats on the blog anniversary! That’s awesome.
I would love to see some resources on how to get out of debt.
Congrats!! I’ve been reading your blog daily for about 5 months now. I would like to see some numbers…like a post about your budget and what you spend money on and what you don’t. I’m looking for more frugal things to do instead of the usual cut your cable bill etc. I guess I mean ideas for the frugal that have already done those things, but want/need to cut more.
Congrats on the anniversary! Yours is one of the first I discovered when venturing down this PF blogger path. You always have great, honest articles and you have been generous with your links.
As far as what I’d like to see? Just keep producing the great content you have been!
Thanks and congrats!
Nice site – I heard about you from a note on the Home Ec 101 website. I’ve read the last couple weeks of your posts and would recommend that for the next year, you just do more of the same. I like the tone and the variety. Keep up the good work and congratulations on your anniversary.
Hi, You were the first PFB I started reading, I just found the story on how you have struggled hit home. I have learned a lot and and still learning.
I would like even more personal stories I think it helps me to relate to the person writing the blog. I also love the frugal suggestions.
Happy one year anniversary.
Congratulations. 2500+ readers is quite an achievement. I love your personal stories and the guest bloggers you have turned me on to.
I enjoy reading your blog! I would love to see more personal stories. :)
Hi Lynnae ~
I’ve been a near-daily visitor for several months – your blog is such a joy to read, thank you!
I love the fact that you’re from Oregon – I’m just outside Salem – so when you mention a location, or state “service” (i.e. OHP) I know what you’re talking about. As a matter of fact so is J.D. from Get Rich Slowly….hmmm, I wonder what that says about PF in Oregon??
Two great PF writers in one (relatively) small state….go figure :)
Keep up the ‘frugal living’ tips and personal stories.
Congratulations on your first year! As a relatively new reader, I enjoy your personal stories as well as your tips. They’re a nice gauge for me personally and a nice shopping aid. Tightwad Tuesdays and Kyle’s coupons are my fave! Keep the good stuff coming!
Congrats, you have done a fine job!
Happy Anniversary to your blog! More book reviews would be awesome! Very cool blog. :)
Congrats on your anniversary! And thanks for many many informative articles. I’d like to see more frugal but fun ways to entertain kids–especially as summer approaches and “I’m bored” becomes a daily mantra.
Congrats! I am so happy you started “Being Frugal” a year ago…I have learned much here, and have enjoyed “getting to know you.” :-)
I always love hearing your personal stories, esp. ways that you save money. Book reviews are always good too. And I think it would be fun to hear from Mr. Being Frugal sometime…..does he have any opinions? ;-)
I love the personal stories you share. what an encouragement, thanks!
A whole year – that’s not only a long time to keep up with a changed lifestyle; it’s also a long time to keep an interesting and informative blog running like you have!
I’d be interested in hearing/reading more about how being frugal is environmentally friendly in various ways (because it really can be!).
Happy Anniversary! I’ve enjoyed the book review posts on (Not) Keeping Up With Our Parents. I hope you continue this thread with other PF reads.
I would love to see more tips on being frugal with kids in high school. How to keep them from feeling “poor” for lack of a better word, but at the same time not spoiling them with expensive clothing, shoes etc. Some of the trips are killers too!
Hey you know I love your site! Man I have linked to you so many times for my weekend linkage posts that I can’t count! I love hearing how you guys are doing on your own goals – it spurs us on to keep one foot in front of the other, knowing we’ll accomplish our baby steps along the way.
Keep up the good work!
Congrats on your year.
I think first and foremost, I’d like to see you get out of debt!
The personal stories are the best. More of them!
I’m a recent reader but I’d love to see more frugal dinner ideas, especially seasonal ones (I’m having a hard time finding quick summer meals that aren’t costly and I may actually make ..under 10 ingredients each??)
thanks
Happy Anniversary :) I love reading book reviews.
Hugssss

Congrats on the big one year. Great work on the blog and keep it up! As for what I want to see, I am going to say keep doing what you are doing. That is what I like best!
Congratulations! I enjoy reading your blog. Would love more frugal tips, recipes, etc. And, of course, as an avid reader, would love more book reviews!
Love your blog! I would like to see a resource page in the future. Thanks for your hard work.
Happy Anniversary! I just found you and am having fun reading and getting to “know” you. I am excited about being content with what I have; it is a constant struggle. Thanks for being so honest and using your words to inspire others/
