Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs

by Lynnae on May 10, 2008 · 25 comments

You’ve probably noticed this isn’t my usual weekend roundup. Since I was so busy with my yard sale preparation this week, I’ll admit I haven’t read many blogs. But that’s OK.

Influential Blogger is putting on a writing project, focusing on the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2008, and this gives me the opportunity to highlight some of my favorite blogs….blogs I see as movers and shakers this year.

The top emerging blogs are restricted to blogs that began in July 2007 or later. And since I live in the personal finance blogosphere, you’re going to notice a bias toward personal finance blogs in my top 10.

Without further ado, here are my picks for the Top 10 Emerging Influential Blogs of 2008, in no particular order.

1. MoolanomyPinyo, the author of Moolanomy, has one of the sharpest entrepreneurial minds of anyone I’ve ever met (in the online sense, anyway). His financial wisdom is reflected in his blog. Moolanomy is quickly becoming the go-to blog for information on building wealth.

2. Gather Little by LittleThere are lots of personal finance blogs around, but few written directly for Christians. Gather Little by Little fills that niche. Glblguy’s writing style is straightforward and honest. Definitely a leader in Christian personal finance!

3. Frugal DadFrugal living blogs aren’t hard to find these days, but a frugal living blog written from a man’s perspective isn’t that common. Frugal Dad fills hole in the blogosphere, for sure. He’s only been blogging since the end of December, and he already has over 700 subscribers and has been linked by Lifehacker! Watch this one!

4. The Wisdom JournalThe Wisdom Journal also entered the blogosphere with a bang. Only 5 months old, The Wisdom Journal has already hit the second page of Digg! Ron is the master of writing a good list, and I always enjoy his tips on life!

5. SkelliwagThis blog has already become an authority on growing a reader-friendly blog. In the short time Skellie has been blogging at Skelliwag, her site has grown to over 2400 readers! She also has a regular column at ProBlogger, which is no small thing, either. Skelliewag goes beyond the category of emerging….Skelliewag has arrived!

6. Blissfully Domestic – Blissfully Domestic is a 4 month old group blog/magazine. Covering topics from marriage to frugality to parenting and much more, Blissfully Domestic already has a loyal readership. They have a cool social media site, too!

7. Money Saving MomIf you need to find the latest Walgreen’s and CVS deals, Money Saving Mom is the place to go! Even though this blog is less than a year old, Crystal, the blog author, is already an expert on saving money and bringing in extra income. Her readers are very loyal, and I expect her site to continue it’s rapid growth.

8. Mrs. MicahMrs. Micah’s tagline, Finance for a Freelance Life, describes her site perfectly. A newly married young woman, Mrs. Micah is ambitious and creative, and that comes through clearly on her blog. Always full of new ideas, I expect Mrs. Micah to go far.

9. Social Media MomIf you want the latest info on social media, Social Media Mom won’t disappoint! Whether you’re interested in Twitter, Sphinn, Stumbleupon, Skirt, or any of the others, Social Media Mom is up to date on what’s hot…and what’s not.

10. Simple MomThough only a few months old, Simple Mom is quickly becoming an authority on simple living and organization. This blog is one to be watched for sure!

Be sure to check back at Influential Blogger to keep up with the picks for the Top 10 Emerging Influential Bloggers of 2008. And to nominate your own picks, read the rules here and write a post of your own.

Thanks, Lynnae, for including me with these other great bloggers!

You and I see eye-to-eye, I can tell, because these are already some of my faves. There’s a few I haven’t read, so I’ll have to check them out.

I’m really glad you posted this. I was looking for new reads to add to my list this week and I love the suggestions you made. I’ve filled in the gaps with the few that weren’t already on my blogroll. I’m looking forward to sipping my coffee and going back and reading their archives.

Happy Saturday!

Lynnae, thank you for including me on such a fine list. I would argue that BeingFrugal.net should be right at the top!

Lovely list. Hours of fascinating reading ahead. Thanks. One of the things I’ve learned as I’ve blogged is that people are always looking for ways to share great ideas. I haven’t started a “my favorite blogs” list yet, but am considering it for my site. I guess I’ve held off because I’m so wary of my site being confused with something read on a linked-to site. Has that every been a concern for you?

You’ve got a very good list here. Congratulations. I myself have been compiling a list for this. With so many promising young blogs out there, I just can’t decide yet which ones I’m gonna include.

Anyway, just sharing my thoughts. :D
