A simple flower against the backdrop of the sky is a masterpiece of the Creator.
I love taking walks with my family. I breathe in the fresh air, get some exercise, and talk with my husband while the kids ride their scooters a few feet ahead of us.
I love to feel the sun on my face, hear the birds chirping, and listen to the sound of my children laughing. I like the cool breeze in my hair, the brilliant colors of spring flowers, and the soothing shade of the trees.
There’s beauty in simplicity. No distraction from the TV, the computer, or the telephone. When I’m out in nature, I often think of God’s goodness, of His creativity and His loving nature. There’s a worship song by Brett Williams that begins with this line,
Who is like you, Oh Lord, Painter of the sky, maker of the sea.
Paint the sky, He did. If I could bring the simple beauty of nature into my house, it would be so much more peaceful. I’d love to rid myself of distractions. Rid myself of material wants.
And that is my goal. That’s why simple living appeals to me. Often by simplifying our lives, we simplify what we think we need. We realize that our needs aren’t met by another electronic gadget or the latest in designer furniture. There’s something more to life. Something that can’t be filled by what money can buy. That’s what I want my life to reflect. The simple beauty of God’s love.

I know what you mean, Lynnae. Just reading your post brought a peace, to think of the simple things, the things that really matter. You captured the moment beautifully, writing about walking in the outdoors with your family. That’s really what matters, isn’t it…our family.
People today find it hard to live with such simplicity and love, without distraction. We all need to focus on this, I believe.

Lynnae,
you know there is a Jason Morant song where he has a line that is similar that I have always loved - “you paint the sky for me to see…”
I have never looked at the colorful sunrises or clouds the same way!! It is God’s canvas!!

I completely agree, sometimes staying grounded and having a beautiful appreciate for life is doing something as simple as having a barbecue with your family once a week.
