We’ll be coloring Easter Eggs today.
Easter is tomorrow, and I was trying to figure out what my kids should wear to church. This year I had determined that we were not going to buy new clothes, because it’s not in the budget, and my kids have plenty of good clothes as it is. They just don’t need special Easter outfits.
I pulled down the boxes from their closets to see what spring clothes we had to choose from. Wouldn’t you know it, but I had planned ahead last year and bought Easter outfits on clearance! Liz was thrilled that she has a brand new dress to wear on Easter, and Sam has a cute little shirt and sweater vest. It was a nice surprise! I had totally forgotten about buying the outfits!
Being Frugal Happenings
It’s been a big week here. I hosted the Carnival of Personal Finance for the first time. It was a huge undertaking, but I really enjoyed reading through all of the articles that were submitted. Thanks to all who participated, and thanks to everyone who linked back and further promoted the carnival! I really appreciate it, and I hope you all got some traffic from your posts!
This week was also big, because my square foot gardening post was linked by Lifehacker. Add that to a couple of articles making the rounds on Stumbleupon and Reddit, and on Thursday I had my highest traffic day ever on this blog! Over 5000 visitors in one day! Welcome to those of you who are new and decided to stick around!
Finally, I have another book giveaway going at Lynnae’s Bookshelf! I’ve decided to do giveaways on most Fridays, so especially if you’re into Christian fiction, check back there often. You may want to subscribe, so you don’t miss anything.

I’ll wrap up this list with a something from Thrifty Mommy. It’s a picture of her piggy bank after she filled her car up with gas. Really. You just have to look!

Thank you so much for adding me to your weekend roundup! Much appreciated. Looking forward to added advice for my sis.
Don’t you love it when discover something smart you did way back when like the clothes you bought? Always a nice surprise!
Thanks for the link! Glad you enjoyed.
I was not planning on buying my boys Easter outfits either as it was not in the budget. But my mom was like they have to have new clothes. But she was going to let them pick, which meant a new t-shirt and jeans. They have plenty of t-shits and jeans. I wanted them to get nice church clothes (as we are going to church.) So somehow I ended up spending $52 at Kohl’s on only one kids outfit and $16 on Easter candy at Cost Cutters. I am kicking myself. My mom spent $90 buying my other son 1 pair jeans, 2 t-shirts, a nice button down shirt, a belt, new underwear, and socks. I could have bought a whole spring wardrobe for $90 not one outfit. This is why I never go to stores. Especially with tired, cranky kids and me being kranky too as it is night time.
I hate spending money I don’t have. Basically I spent my food money for the week, so now will be creative eating out of the pantry. No fresh fruit this week. I guess we all mess up now and again. I am glad you planned ahead this year. -Becky
On Easter Outfits for Church: It is funny because I teach Art to Elementary Age, My husband is a Mechanic, and my son is a little over 2 1/2 years old. Luckily our Church is a Jeans kind of church. We do not ever have to buy clothes due to all the above. We just buy “nice” clothes if an event occurs…like a Baptism, Wedding, and our trip this summer, etc… Otherwise, we wait for gifts from my mom which is usually clothes.
Oh, I’m well aware of how cheap they are. Trust me!
But I’ve done them nonetheless! Thanks for the link love!
