Weekend Roundup – Time with Sam

Blue Sky

Since the sun is out, Sam and I might go to the park or start our garden.

I can’t believe how quickly this week flew by!  Jim and Liz are off on a father-daughter retreat this weekend, so it’s just Sam and I here at home.  Last night I broke my vow not to eat out this month, because it’s a rare night that Sam and I can have a mommy-son date.  And Sam wanted pizza.  So we had our own little pizza party.

Today we’re going to take it easy.  Sam will spend the day watching the Nationwide series, while playing with his NASCAR cars.  He’s especially excited about the Matt Kenseth car he bought with his allowance last night.   I’ll probably write a few blog posts to get ahead.  Is there anything in particular you’d like to see next week?

Other goings on this week:

I made a minor tweak to my blog theme yesterday, and the link to leave a comment is now at the bottom of the post. I like it better there.  So if you want to leave a comment, and are confused because the link isn’t up top anymore, now you know where it is.

The next round of March Madness is up at Free Money Finance. My post It Hit Me Like a Ton of Bricks is up against a very good post from Ana at DebtFREE-Revolution, so be sure to head over to Free Money Finance to vote for “Bricks!”

Don’t forget to turn your clocks an hour ahead tonight. I’m afraid with my husband out of town, I’m going to forget and be one of those people that walks into church an hour late tomorrow.  :)

The M-Network’s series on Dave Ramsey’s 7 Baby Steps wrapped up yesterday.  If you missed it, you might want to give it a read.

Now for the Roundup.  My roundups have been getting pretty long and out of hand in recent weeks, so I’m going to start limiting myself to 10 links each week. After all, Peter Walsh says I need to respect my space, and I guess that could apply to blog space, too.  :)

Here are my 10 favorite posts from the week:

1 Marshmallow or 2?  A Study on the Benefits of Delayed Gratification at Gather Little by Little.  Are you a one marshmallow person or a two marshmallow person?  I used to be a one, but now I’m a two….most of the time anyway.

5 Steps to Conquering a Debilitating Fear of Change at The Dough Roller.  Don’t let fear hold you back from making decisions that could benefit your life.

Generic Feminine Products and the Diva Cup Solution at Mrs. Micah.  You men might want to skip this one.  That said, the Diva Cup is an increasingly popular (and environmentally friendly) alternative to traditional feminine products.

The Irony of Debt at I’ve Paid for This Twice Already.  Paidtwice notices that in order to get out of debt, we have to continue to practice the same mentality that got us into debt in the first place….the very thought process that we’re trying to change.

40 Alternative Income Ideas and Resources at Moolanomy.  If you need an alternative income, this is the place to look for ideas!  Pinyo has put together an extensive list of ways to make some extra money.

List of Everyday Items We All Need, but Spend too Much On at Milk Your Money.  The part I really like is when Frank gives suggestions on how to save money on these items!

Tip your Pizza Delivery Person at DebtFREE-Revolution.  Not leaving a tip isn’t frugal;  it’s cheap.  And Ana tells it from the delivery person’s perspective.

Thoughts on Clutter:  Why We Should Let Go at Antishay Ventenne.  This is the second part in a series Shanti is writing on clutter.  It’s long, but very good.  This is the year I’m getting rid of my clutter, too.

Relativism at Rocket Finance.  Perspective is important, and rocketc has a great perspective on his finances.

That’s it for this week!  If I’m ambitious, I might work on starting my garden this weekend.  I just noticed the sun is out!

What are you doing this weekend?

Thanks for the links, Lynnae … but you should tell folks to vote for ME :)

Thanks for mentioning the Diva Cup, Lynnae. I was slightly shocked by how much pleasanter it made my week. :)

Since you asked, my husband and I FINALLY got our wedding pictures up in our hallway. They’ve been lying around, framed and ready, for literally months. It’s a nice feeling to finally have that done, and the hallway looks great for when my parents come over tomorrow for lasagna!

If I get ambitious tonight, I might work on some scrapbooking :)

I am honored to be in your roundup! I got afraid that the posts would be so long that no one would read them… It was originally supposed to be only one post but halfway through the first I realized that it had to be atleast three :) I honestly need to slowly teach myself to be more concise in my writing – a lesson I already have learned a lot in since starting the blog ;) anyway – thank you for the link!!

This weekend has disappeared! Sean and I worked on my truck this morning, embracing what little sunshine there was and installing a totally unnecessary air intake to give me more horsepower (like my v8 needs any more of that… But he insisted! LOL). After a movie and a lazy nap, he’s cooking dinner and I’m replying to posts on my phone. Ah, lazy Saturdays. I may do some writing tonight or just write for hours tomorrow ;)

Glad you got some one-on-one time with Sam and a glimpse of some sunshine – hope the rest of your weekend is lovely! :)
