Weekend Roundup – Daytona 500 Weekend

Dale Jr.

I’ll be rooting for Dale Jr. this weekend, much to my husband’s chagrin.

NASCAR started up again this week, and my husband and son are in full NASCAR mode.  Sam bought a little Dale Jr. car at the store this week, and he’s been carrying that thing around with him everywhere.  At least he has good taste in drivers.

So this weekend I’m going to be busy watching the Nationwide race and the Daytona 500.  It should be lots of fun.  I learned a long time ago that I could either resent my husband’s sports addiction or join him.  It’s more fun to join him, so I’ve become a NASCAR fan.  Now to convince my husband that Junior is a better driver than Jeff Gordon.  ;)

If you’re not going to be sitting in front of the TV this weekend, I have a ton of great reading for you.  Since I didn’t get to my carnival roundup earlier this week, I have that as well as my regular weekend roundup.

One announcement before I get started with the roundup.  I’d like to start featuring guest posts on Being Frugal. So if you’ve ever thought about writing a guest post, feel free to contact me.  I’d love to work with you on that.  I’ll work out a schedule, depending on the level of interest out there.  Now on to the roundup.

The Carnivals:

I participated in three carnivals and a festival this week.

A big thank you to all of the carnival hosts!  It’s a lot of work to put on a blog carnival, and I appreciate all the effort they put into the carnivals this week!

Finally, I noticed from the comments on yesterday’s post that a lot of you are book addicts, like me.  If you’re into Christian fiction at all, head over to my book blog.  I’m giving away a copy of Healing Stones by Nancy Rue and Stephen Arterburn.  It’s an excellent book, and I highly recommend it!  And it’s free to the lucky person who wins the drawing!

Have a great weekend, and enjoy the reading!  And Go Dale Jr.!  :)

Well, at least Junior is on the right team this year, I think that will help him a lot. Can he outrun Jeff and Jimmie? I doubt it, but we’ll see.

Honestly, it’s going to be REALLY strange watching them race on the same team. I thinks going to be a real tough transition for me after having Earnhardts as the enemy for so long….

I know nothing about the race this weekend other than that it’s really close to me so I’m hiding out.

Thanks for the mention!

NASCAR time already? Wow, where does the time go. I don’t keep up with the details much, but we have been invited to Bristol this year. We might go see what the craze is about…

Thanks for the mention!

I can’t believe it’s Nascar time again! Time sure flies!
I’m a Dale Jr. Fan-just because I think he is one handsome boy :) Everyone in the family has their favorites though, so it makes for interesting race days!

Take Care

Thanks for including my post. I’m thinking of making the Joe Sixpack a semi-regular thing. What do you think??

Thanks Lynnae for including my post. I actually watched the Daytona 500 and I live just outside of NYC which is probably an area where Nascar has a small following.

I’m not sure what that means for Nascar since I never watched it before last year and now I find myself knowing quite a bit, surprised to see the Penscke racing team come out of no where today:)
