Weekend Roundup – Superbowl Weekend Edition

Football

I will be rooting for the Giants this weekend.

It’s another Superbowl tomorrow, and I have to admit I’m not too excited about it.  I was really hoping the Packers would go instead of the Giants.  We’re big Favre fans here.  What would have really been nice is if the 49ers had had a decent season, but we all know how that went!  :(

We got invited to a couple of Superbowl parties this weekend, but we have a busy day today and decided we needed some quiet time tomorrow.  So my husband and I will be staying home to watch the game together, while the kids hopefully play nicely together.  :)  We’re reluctantly rooting for the Giants, because my husband doesn’t like the Patriots too much.  Plus I like Eli Manning.  He was an asset to my Fantasy Football team a couple of years ago.

Enough football talk.  There’s a lot of good stuff going on in the blogosphere this week.  Seriously.  I was bookmarking articles left and right for the roundup, so be prepared for lots of reading!

First of all, the Home Finance:  Mortgages and the Real Cost of Home Ownership project wrapped up.  Rocket Finance gives a good synopsis of the project here.

And finally, I’d like to take the time to thank the bloggers who referred the most traffic to Being Frugal in January.

One final announcement.  I’m hosting the Festival of Frugality on Tuesday, so be sure to submit your articles!  I’d love to include you!

So who are you rooting for in the Superbowl?  The Giants or the Patriots?  Or do you not care?

Thanks for the mention on the envelope budgeting system. It has saved us much grief over the last couple years. One of the nice things about it that I didn’t mention in my article was that you have just a single withdrawal for “cash” right around paycheck time, and no other checkcard transactions to reconcile in the coming days. It makes keeping up with your checkbook balance a breeze!

Hey, thanks for the mention! I’m rooting for the Giants too. For the lamest reason ever – my son’s name is Eli so we are rooting for Mr. Eli Manning. Shhhh don’t tell PaidTwice.

Thanks for the mention! I’m so glad you enjoyed the organizing pictures. So far I’ve only shown the areas that ARE organized, but I’ll start tackling the areas that aren’t, and how I manage it, each Tuesday (roughtly, life dependant of course!). I love little mini series like this, because it forces me to actually DO it.
