You are not seeing things

Being Frugal has a new theme. Again. Sorry to keep playing with you all like this, but my old theme had a few problems I couldn’t get past. I tried to make this theme as familiar as possible, and to tell you the truth, I like it better. I hope you like it too.

I’m still working out the kinks, so be prepared for some tweaking here and there over the next couple of days. I’m having a few problems with the right sidebar at the moment, and I’m aware that it looks a little bit funny in IE7, so I’m sorry if it’s annoying. I’m working as quickly as possible to fix the problem.

If there are any other problems that you notice, please contact me. I hate to think that something is way wrong, and you’re hating the new theme, and I don’t realize it. So please, feel free to bring up any issues that you see.

One more thing I should mention. The link to leave a comment from the main page is now at the top of the post. I always get confused when it’s not at the bottom, and I figure I can’t be the only one. So if you’re looking to leave a comment from the main page, look up! :)

If you’re looking for my ING referrals, you can find them right here. I’ve temporarily taken them down from the navigation bar while I’m tweaking.

So have a great morning, while I’m knee deep in coding, and I’ll be back this afternoon with a carnival roundup! There were some good carnivals this week, so be sure to check back!

It looks good right now. Funny, I was having problems with IE6 for my sidebar. :P It’s harder than it looks to get a good layout.

Lynnae-
I think the new layout looks great! The sidebars look great in firefox!
It can be really frustrating getting a new layout put together and running properly! I have just gone through this myself and it can be a chore to work out all the little tweaks! Once it is done, though, you will be so happy with it.

I think it looks great!

Take Care

I like it! Clean and crisp. Looks good in Firefox, too :)

I have to remember every now and then to check if my site looks okay in IE. I’ll get a call from a friend asking if something is wrong and sure enough, there’s some glitch that shows up in IE but not in Firefox or Safari.

Looks good to me too! I don’t know what Firefox is so I probably don’t have it. Keep up the good work!

I really like it, Lynnae. It seems barely different. Very familiar. :)

I like the theme. Here are a few ideas:

The twitter widget might not work there. As you see, the link extends out of the box and looks messy.

If you aren’t comfortable with having the comments link on top, why not put it on the bottom, or both?

How about reducing the font in the footer so it fits on one line, and change the copyright to 2008. No one really cares if you have valid xhtml or css on a financial site, so you can remove them. They’re ugly bottons anyway.

Search is so far from the top, it’s barely usable.

Why not having navigation on the left side of the bar, for usability?

How about the piggy bank next to the title, as a logo?

Thanks, Harris. Those are all very good ideas. I didn’t even notice the twitter problem, until you pointed it out.

I totally agree with you about the piggy bank. I just have to figure out how to do it first. :)

I’ll get to work over the weekend!
