You Tell Me: What Would You Like to See?

If you're new here, you may want to find out more about me. Also, please consider subscribing via RSS or email. Thanks for visiting!

QuestionsWhen I started Being Frugal back in May, it was largely a personal journal of my family’s attempt to meet our goal of getting out of debt. I had no idea that I would eventually move from blogspot to my own domain at beingfrugal.net. I had no idea that I’d have over 800 subscribers. And I really had no idea that I’d strike up so many good friendships with my readers.

Yet that’s what Being Frugal has become, to me anyway. A place for me to continue to track my journey to debt-free living, a place for me to share with the greater blogosphere what’s worked and what hasn’t, and a place for people to interact with each other and give suggestions through comments and emails. Without you readers, Being Frugal wouldn’t be what it is.

And since you are all so important to me and to this blog, I’d like to take a moment to ask you what you would like to see here. Are there subjects you’d like to see more of? Less of? Do I post enough? Not enough? Too much? Do you have any questions you’d like to see answered in a post? Feel free to ask questions and share suggestions in the comments. If you’d like to make a suggestion, but don’t want to leave a comment, feel free to contact me by email.

While I can’t promise I’ll implement all of your suggestions, I will take every comment into careful consideration. All I ask is that you be kind in sharing your comments. I don’t mind criticism, but “The colors on this blog are too bright for my eyes” goes over better than “I hate your site design”. :)

So have at it! Let me hear your thoughts and ideas!

Love your site, I read it faithfully everyday. Keep up the good work, you are a great inspiration to me and each day look forward to being encouraged with your financial words of wisdom and humor!

    Hey Lynnae,

Just started subscribing to your site, so think I haven’t been here enough to comment on what you should or shouldn’t focus on.

But I’d like to say the look and layout of your site is both clean and pleasing. One small comment/recommendation.

Coincidentally, I had your site open yesterday and had a friend over and he was looking over my should and asked me, “what is an ing bonus?” I told him IMG. He said ooh, I know ING” i guess for a second because it wasn’t capitalized he didnt recognize it. He suggested the section tabs be capitalized.

I thought you might want to know that. Not sure if there’s a reason behind it but thought you should know.

    @Lorri - Thank You!

@CiaranFromChance - Honestly, until I put the ING links up there, I never realized the menu bar wasn’t capitalized. It came with the theme that way. That’s a good suggestion. Thanks!

Like CiaranFromChance, I am a new reader as well, but I feel that we have mutual goals with our site and their content. I say keep doing what you’ve been doing! I personally struggle with the balance of writing more mainstream financial topics and frugal living topics.

@Frugal Dad - I have a hard time with subject selection, as well. I just tend to go with whatever is happening in my life at the moment.

@Ciaran - Turns out putting capital letters in the navigation bar was pretty easy! Done!

I would like to see you send about 100 subscribers my way. . . :)

Actually, I enjoy your site and recent improvements to your theme have made it a more pleasant place to pick up frugal tips.

One thing that I have scoured the internet for - free or highly discounted diapers - almost impossible to find. If you can give some money saving tips in that area, my wife and I will be excited (doesn’t take much. . .)

I’m a new subscriber, so can’t comment on your content. I will say, though, that my search lately has been for further ways to cut our household spending: groceries, entertainment, clothing, etc. We’ve been on our “frugal journey” for a couple of years, and have reached the debt free place, and have trimmed everywhere that is obvious to trim. I still feel like we spend far too much in these areas! :0)

    Hi Lynnae!
Love your site and wouldn’t change a thing to it. The only question or subject that I have is this: my husband is starting a small internet business that sells gun supplies (hope this doesn’t offend anyone - we live in Texas where guns are big business). Any helpful ideas or if anyone out there has experience in this it would be greatly appreciated.
    Keep up the good work!

    Lynnae-

I LOVE YOUR BLOG! I love all the articles you write and I love the design of your blog, and that you draw from personal experience.

You are doing a great job and I think you should just stick to what you have been doing.
The only thing I would enjoy seeing more of is your progress-how your debt is going and where you stand versus where you started, etc. I love success stories, so I would love to hear more updates on your progress!

Take Care and Keep up the Good Work!

    I adore your site…
and the only thing I could think of, that I might like to see more of, is maybe some frugal and fun ideas for couples to do on a date night.
(Especially for those of us stuck in the gloomy and cold Midwest winter)!

hey. . . take it easy on my lovely part of the country!

At least we don’t have hurricanes or earthquakes or forest fires. (Of course, we had a tornado in January, but you don’t have to mention that. . .)

I am new to your site, and am so happy I found it. While my family is not trying to become debt free, we are trying to live frugally and save money for retirement, college, new car, etc. So I would love to hear more about how to save money. Thanks for asking!

How about a post detailing how you got over 800 subscribers! ;-) That is awesome! Although I think I know how you do it - you are honest, provide great information, and your writing style is very easy to read. Keep up the great work!

  14. Lynnae on January 18th, 2008 4:19 pm

Thanks for weighing in, everyone! I’m taking notes, and getting some pretty good topic ideas!

Though I don’t know if I can write a post on how I got over 800 subscribers. Sometimes it’s hard for me to believe that many people read Being Frugal. :)

I’m hard pressed to come up with a suggestion to make your site even better. Whatever you do, I hope that you continue being candid and kind hearted (yes, I can see that through your writing) on your posts.

  16. Lynnae on January 19th, 2008 12:04 pm

Thanks, Hilda. Candid is in my personality, so I don’t think that will be changing anytime soon. :)
