Weekend Roundup - I’m so tired, I almost didn’t get this post written edition

Roundups

It’s Friday night, and I’m running on empty.  I only got about 4 hours of sleep last night (you have to love Restless Leg Syndrome), and it’s been a very busy day.  I almost decided not to write a roundup post.  But there were so many good posts out there this week, I’m just going to do a quick list of my favorites.  In no particular order…

Have a great weekend, everyone!  I’m going to my children’s last soccer games of the season today, followed by a local Trunk or Treat tonight, so I will be scarce today.  Enjoy the reading!

You may want to rethink your opinion on the Dave Ramsey post…even Plonkee changed his blog post after a commentor pointed out that Dave said to “leave” the money in a mutual fund that the caller said the money was already in.

Please don’t be so quick to jump on the bandwagon without first investigating for yourself what other bloggers are saying.

@Loretta - I did see that, but I agree with some other bloggers that a mutual fund might not be the best place to leave the money. I also agree that Dave needs to keep a better eye on his site, since the people who wrote the synopsis on his site got it wrong.

That being said, I am still a huge Dave Ramsey fan. I think Dave has done a lot of good for a lot of people, myself included. But I do think we run into trouble when we start taking people’s advice without ever questioning it. If someone went to his site and saw the synopsis (before it was changed) without listening to the actual call, they could get the wrong idea, and just because it’s on Dave’s site, if they took the words as gospel fact, they could end up making a big mistake.

That’s why I liked the post. It encourages you to question even the biggest authorities on subjects like personal finance. Even the big guys make mistakes sometimes.

I understand the synopsis has been changed on Dave’s site, and I applaud him and his staff for getting to it so quickly.

Have fun at soccer! We still have two chilly games to go! Our trunk or treat cost $20 to participate, so we had to decline it. I hope yours was fun, it sounds like a fun time!
Great links, thanks for some Sunday reading!
