Things have been going pretty well from a financial standpoint at the Being Frugal household. We’re halfway through the month, and we still haven’t eaten out. Do a cheer with me! This week will be a piece of cake when it comes to avoiding fast food. We have the Back-to-School BBQ on Tuesday, Pizza with my family on Wednesday (I don’t count that, because my brother is rarely in town….besides, I doubt we’ll have to pay), and my husband has a guys group dinner on Friday, so dinner for me and the kids will be easy.
I fell off the tracking expenses wagon last week though. I believe it’s because my desk is so disorganized. I have a hard time functioning at my desk. So my frugal goal this week is to find a system that works for me. I need to deal with my massive amounts of email in an organized manner. I need to be able to work through my mail and get my desk cleared off. I have a feeling that if my desk is more organized, I’ll be able to keep on top of my finances.
What are you doing this week to live a more frugal life?
Keep your eyes open for a special event by the M-Network. On October 8 each member of the M-Network will reveal their best and worst financial decision. Details are on my sidebar.

It’s been 1.5 months with a limit on eating out. When I say we would eat out 4-5 times a week, I’m not kidding. This Saturday we ate at Pizza Hut. We’ve been influenced by the commercials for the Dipping Pizza & the Pizone. Either we are getting used to not eating out, or it really wasn’t good…but ugh, my dh and I were sick. I felt sick almost immediately, dh not till the next day. The week before we had a pizza party for my ds’ baseball team. The food was horrible and also left us feeling not so great. This was at The Incredible Pizza Company.
I think you’ll notice after a while of not eating out so much that you really won’t want to eat out. For whatever reason, the food just doesn’t taste as good.
I am trying not to eat out as well!! I would love to (actually, it would probably be very scary) find out how much I have spent eating out over the course of my life. At least I started making changes!!
Paula, that’s nice to know. It would be nice to not WANT to eat out anymore. :)
ChristianPF, I don’t think I’m ready to see that figure yet. That might be depressing!
Things I am doing frugal….well, since there is no more Suprano’s on HBO we stopped the additional cost for that on Comcast. I also heard my husband talk about getting a book Prince of Darkness by Robert Novak and when he told me he was going to go to the book store informed him that I had reserved it at the library and it was waiting for us and that saved the cost of the book. Whoo hoo.
Good for you, Carol!
