Since I’ve been eating at home exclusively, I’ve been on the lookout for new recipes. There are lots of great sites out there. These are the ones that I like.
You’ll find tons of great recipes at Allrecipes. I love that they are rated, and if you read the comments, you can often find little tweaks to make the recipes even better. Allrecipes also has a tool that you can use to find recipes based on what ingredients you have on hand. Convenient and frugal!
There are more recipes on Recipe Goldmine than you can count! I like that they are all categorized. Besides the traditional categories, there are collections of baby food recipes, BBQ Guru recipes, and even Nutella recipes. Last summer I found some good camping recipes before our annual camping trip.
A resource I’ve been using a lot lately is Slow Cooking Thursday, hosted each week by Diary of a Stay at Home Mom. Monday we had Slow Cooker Lemon Chicken with Potatoes and Mushrooms, and yesterday we tried Slow Cooker Barbeque. Both dinners were absolutely fabulous! Tonight we’re trying Swiss Chicken, and my husband was already salivating when he saw the ingredients go into the crock pot. Go check it out, and if you have a great slow cooker recipe to share, post it on your blog and link to Diary of a Stay at Home Mom, so I can try it this week!
The Make it From Scratch Carnival is also a good source for frugal recipes. Last week it was hosted at The Fat Bottomed Girl. I haven’t had a chance to try any of the recipes yet, but I’ve got my eye on How to Make a Custom Birthday Cake. Sam’s got a birthday coming up, and I need ideas. Does anyone know how to make a NASCAR cake?
Finally, if you’re desperate for ideas, you can’t beat Cooking by Numbers. My friend Kandy directed me over there a couple of days ago. You probably won’t find any gourmet meals there, but if you don’t have a lot on hand, you can bet Cooking by Numbers will find a recipe that you can make.
I know there are many more cooking resources out there. Which are your favorites?

Lynnae, you could make a regular cake and then do a racetrack on it with frosting and put a couple of plastic cars on the racetrack!!!
I did that last year. Yes, he’s been into racing that long now. I may do it again, but if I can come up with something different, I’d like to give it a try.
I love allreceipes.com too! I am making the slow cooker french dip sandwiches tomorrow for dinner. I can’t wait! Slow cooker cooking is soooo easy!
Allrecipes is my all time favorite! I love how you can change the serving amount and it cuts the recipe down for you. Nice for a math loser like me.
I’ve got to check out the crock pot blogs. You have a ton of good links!
Boomeyers, I’m going to have to check into that crockpot french dip recipe. I love French Dip Sandwiches!
Paula, I love that you can change the number of servings easily too! I use that feature ALL the time! I also like that you can print recipes in different sizes to fit your needs.
I found this site too http://www.hillbillyhousewife.com/ that you might like :)
I know this is a late comment, but try a NASCAR cupcake! Here’s the recipe from one of the NASCAR promotions about three years ago. I think it was called SuperSpeedway Cupcakes.
Make cupcakes as usual (white, yellow, whatever).
Place a small circle of white icing in the middle of the cupcake. (You might want an icing piper bag)
Frost the edges of the cupcake in chocolate icing.
It looks like a tire. Now here is how to finish it off:
Chocolate chip in the middle of the white circle for the axle.
Five silver dots placed around the chocolate chip but still on the white circle for lugnuts.
We make this cupcake pattern every year to take to our NASCAR tailgate party at Michigan International Speedway.
