It’s been a great week for financial blogging. I had a hard time coming up with a theme for my favorite posts this week, because there are so many good ones on so many different topics.
The best of the how-tos
Nora at Wise Bread posted an interesting way to avoid impulse purchases on your credit card. I followed through on this advice earlier this week.
What do you do if a representative from your credit card company calls you, and you don’t know if the call is legit? The answer is at Blogging Away Debt. In a day and age where ID theft is rampant, this is a must read.
You need to read more
Plonkee writes about the most important skill you need for good personal finance. What is it? Hint: It’s something you learn in kindergarten or first grade.
While you’re reading, head over to Zen Habits to read about the Cheapskate’s Bible. I’ve read this book, and it’s a great one to have in your personal library if you want to live more frugally. Read the review, and then check out the book from your public library!
Most inspirational
Deputy Headmistress recounts years of living a frugal lifestyle at Frugal Hacks. She then ties her lifestyle into a lesson from the Bible. No description I give will do this article justice, so you’ll have to head over there to read it yourself!
Personal finance is like (fill in the blank)
…Driving a Car. Stop by Gather Little by Little to learn why personal finance is like the road trip you took last summer. There are some good finance (and driving) lessons here.
…A Child’s Piggy Bank. The King of Debt relates what a child’s piggy bank can tell us about how we should manage finances as adults. It’s a good read!
…Pirates. Brip Blap shows us what we can learn about personal finance from pirates. It’s an entertaining and informative article. A word of warning, though. You may have to speak a little bit of pirate to fully understand it.
Those are my picks of the week. Grab a cup of coffee and enjoy the read!

Thanks so much for the link! Plonkee’s article is excellent, too, and Zen Habits is always great.
You’re welcome! It’s a great article and a fun read!
I put a hold on Tightwad Gazette in our library. It’s funny how you recommended a book…to be borrowed from the library. Now, that’s frugal!
Thanks for the link, glad you enjoyed it.
