With the gas price topping 4$ now, I think I would need no spend weeks so we can cover our expenses without getting into more debt that we already are. I used to be a compulsive spender but I have put an end to it 10 years ago so our debt went down significantly ( but still have debt!). It's hard at first but I took it slow. It's like getting clean from a drug addiction. I have fallen off the wagon a few times but luckily I have saved the receipt so I can get my refund afterward. That's to say it's never too early to learn how to save. I am trying to teach my kids to be frugal so they can be free from debt sooner that I am now.

Well, I do spend a little more on my spend days, but I save money by not running into town every day. I also tend to stick to my list when I'm running to several stores in one morning. If I'm not on a timeline, I tend to start browsing, which always leads to overspending.

I tried to implement "no spend" days for my wife, but she just ended up spending more on her "spend" days.

Oh well, back to the drawing board.

I think you are doing really well. Congratulation and keep up the hard work. I love the concept of "no spend" days.
