I used to be a compulsive spender but I have put an end to it 10 years ago so our debt went down significantly ( but still have debt!). It's hard at first but I took it slow. It's like getting clean from a drug addiction. I have fallen off the wagon a few times but luckily I have saved the receipt so I can get my refund afterward. That's to say it's never too early to learn how to save. I am trying to teach my kids to be frugal so they can be free from debt sooner that I am now. I also tend to stick to my list when I'm running to several stores in one morning. If I'm not on a timeline, I tend to start browsing, which always leads to overspending.
