Last week I challenged myself to commit 3 days as “no-spend” days. I am pleased to report that I didn’t spend any money on Monday, Tuesday, or Thursday last week. As a bonus, I also kept myself from spending any money on Saturday. I hereby declare last week’s challenge a success!
I’m going to repeat the same challenge this week. I’m not going to spend any money on Wednesday, Friday, or Saturday. This week is going to be harder, because I have a lot of errands to run before school starts next week. I think I can do it though.
I also updated my finances. When I started this blog, I had $9233 in total debt. As of today, I have 1794.28 in credit card debt and $7043.85 in student loan debt. That’s a grand total of $8838.13! I have paid off $394.87! I’m still not on track to meet my one year deadline, but I’m thrilled to see the balance go under $9000. Now that my husband has a reliable paycheck coming in, I’m hoping to see the numbers go down even faster! Stay tuned…

Great job on the no spenders! Good luck doing it again this week!
Love your new layout and design!!
Thank you!
I think you are doing really well. Congratulation and keep up the hard work. I love the concept of “no spend” days.
I tried to implement “no spend” days for my wife, but she just ended up spending more on her “spend” days.
Oh well, back to the drawing board.
Well, I do spend a little more on my spend days, but I save money by not running into town every day. I also tend to stick to my list when I’m running to several stores in one morning. If I’m not on a timeline, I tend to start browsing, which always leads to overspending.
With the gas price topping 4$ now, I think I would need no spend weeks so we can cover our expenses without getting into more debt that we already are. I used to be a compulsive spender but I have put an end to it 10 years ago so our debt went down significantly ( but still have debt!). It’s hard at first but I took it slow. It’s like getting clean from a drug addiction. I have fallen off the wagon a few times but luckily I have saved the receipt so I can get my refund afterward. That’s to say it’s never too early to learn how to save. I am trying to teach my kids to be frugal so they can be free from debt sooner that I am now.
