Job Dilemma

I’ve mentioned before that my husband’s job is less than ideal. This week he had interviews with two other potential employers. The first job is for a group of local radio stations. My husband would be selling advertising, which he has done before. He has 15 years of experience in this field, and he knows he can do the job. It’s not a job that will make us a ton of money, but we should be able to barely get by. They’re willing to start him at a base salary that will pay our bills for 3 months, before he goes to commission. Like I said, we’ve gone down this road many times before, so we totally know what to expect.

The second job is for a pharmaceutical company. He would be a sales rep. My husband has never done this kind of sales before, but it seems to be the relational kind of sales that my husband is good at. The financial benefits of this job are much greater than the radio job.

So where is the dilemma? My husband was just offered the radio job. We have no idea how much longer it will be before the pharmaceutical company makes a hiring decision. We do know that there’s at least one more interview, which has not been scheduled yet. So what to do? Take the radio job, because it’s a sure thing? Hold out to see what happens with the pharmaceutical job? Decisions, decisions.
