First the good news. About 3 weeks ago, I started line-drying most of my clothes to save on the electric bill. I just got this month’s bill, and it’s $51, down from $58 the month before. And that was with a rate increase. I’ll definitely be line-drying until the weather gets bad! I’d say that challenge has been a success.
I also had an ongoing challenge to get my grocery bill under $100 a week. That’s been a success too. The first week I tried, I only spent $70 on groceries. This week I’ve been eating out of the pantry, largely because I’ve been sick and haven’t gone anywhere.
Now for the bad news. First of all, I had my husband pick up dinner 3 times in the last week. That’s not very frugal at all. I was sick, but I need to prepare better for that.
And second, my challenge last week was to write down everything we spent. That went out the window as soon as I got sick. So I am going to repeat that challenge this week, since I know that’s an important aspect of knowing where I stand financially speaking.
So there you have it. The good, the bad, and the ugly.

Good luck in restarting your efforts. Your trip to the grocery store was great! Now, just plan for those “icky” days!
Buy a fold out drying rack and you should be able to continue drying your clothes without the dryer. They are about $10, but it looks like you’d recoup that within a month from not using more electricity. You may only be able to do one load a day, but it’s better than nothing. Other things can be hung on a hanger on your shower rod or another location. Great job so far!
