I went grocery shopping today and only spent $71! It’s nice to be $29 under budget for the week. I’m trying to decide whether to use the money to make a credit card payment immediately, or to hold the extra until the end of the month. My husband’s new job isn’t going so well, and I think at this point our basic bills may be more than we take in in a month. I think I’ll just transfer the $29 to our other account, and if we don’t need it for a basic bill, I’ll make a credit card payment at the end of the month.
We also plan to make this a “no eating out” month. So far we have never been successful at not eating out for a month, so we’ll see how it goes. We both realize our financial situation is pretty dire at the moment, though, so it’s time to buckle down. The exception will be this weekend when I’m in Arizona. I plan on eating on the cheap, though.
This debt-repayment plan is tough, but I’m determined to do it. I’m so sick of debt.

Wow! That is a great savings! I would definately just set it aside for now and wait until the end of the month or the next paycheck. Cooking in is really hard. Let me know how you do it! Cooking ahead, crockpot, etc. Planning!
Congratulations. I find that grocery shopping is the place where I have the hardest time saving money. I use coupons and shop sales, but things like fruit and veg and meat are still expensive.
This week I planned easy dinners. In fact, my husband and kids are eating TV dinners while I’m gone. Not really healthy, but neither is fast food, which I’m sure is what they’d be eating otherwise.
